Boko Haram: NSCDC deploys officers to guard schools in Borno

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC says it has deployed about 500 of its personnel to guard public schools in Borno state.

 

Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi the Commandant of the corps made the disclosure in Maiduguri the Borno state capital on Thursday.

 

He said following the incident of abduction of school girls in Yobe, the Command Headquarters had directed the immediate deployment of personnel to schools in the state.

 

He said the corps was working jointly with other security agencies in the state to ensure that students were protected from further security threats.

 

According to him, special armed, counter terrorism and anti-riot squad, bomb detection and disposal unit, intelligence, detective as well as rescue and medical teams of the corps are being deployed to the schools.
