Cristiano Ronaldo has praised former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson for the positive impact he had on his career.

Ronaldo made a return to Old Trafford on Tuesday with Italian outfit, Juventus who defeated Manchester United 1-0 in their UEFA Champions League clash courtesy of Paulo Dybala’s first half goal.

Juventus dominated the game and moved five points clear at the top the Champions League Group H table following the win.

“A great coach and above all a wonderful man. Taught me so many things inside and outside the pitch. Great to see you in good shape, Boss!,” reads the tweet.

Ronaldo moved to United as a teenager in 2003, and enjoyed a successful career with the Red Devils under Ferguson.

The Portugal star won the first of his five Ballon d’Or awards at Old Trafford, as well as lifting three Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.

An £80 million ($103m) move to Real – then a world record – followed and saw Ronaldo win four more Champions League trophies, as well as two La Liga titles and three Club World Cups.

Sir Alex Ferguson, meanwhile, had been in intensive care earlier in the year and underwent emergency surgery after he suffered a brain haemorrhage.

Having recovered from the operation, he returned to Old Trafford for the first time for United’s Premier League clash with Wolves in September, with there being further positive signs following the latest image of him meeting up with Ronaldo.
