Nine more grounds have been added by the federal government to its appeal against Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the IPOB.
The Supreme Court, represented by a five-person panel, accepted the new reasons against the Court of Appeal, which had dismissed and exonerated Kanu, in the hearing that continued on Thursday.
The court presided over by Justice John Okoro decided in favor of the application for leave made by Tijani Gazali, the attorney for the Nigerian government.
The federal government was also granted leave to add the additional nine grounds to its amended notice of appeal dated October 28 2022.
The court was informed by Kanu’s lawyer, Mike Ozekhome that motions had been filed by his client.
Ozekhome disclosed that one of the motions included one in which he is praying to be relocated to Kuje prison from the facility of the Department of State Services (DSS).
According to him, the embattled leader was seriously ill and needed urgently proper medical attention, which could be accessed at Kuje Prison.
The case was adjourned to May 11 after the hearing.
