Sudan: FG explains why fleeing Nigerians were turned away from Egypt.

The federal government has given an insight into the circumstances surrounding Nigerian students being denied entry into Egypt after they fled Sudan.

News that the fleeing students were left stranded at the border between Sudan and Egypt made quite a splash on Friday.

Speaking on the fate of the Nigerians, the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, disclosed that the students are required to show some papers.



“First, they arrived at about past 5.30 pm, during which they had already closed and then by the time they… They allowed two officials only to cross over.

“But they refused to allow, well not just the Nigerians. There are about 7,000 nationals; people from various countries waiting there. But they refused to allow them to cross

“They said they needed to have some clearance, some visas and all that.

“So, unfortunately, those students have been in the bus for three days. The condition is actually very traumatic and traumatising”, she stated.
