Death is better than shame 53 year old who raped teenager cries out

A 53-year-old man Ayorinde Oyekole who attempted to commit suicide when security officers came to arrest him for raping a teenager on 30th April 2023 has said that death is better than shame.

Webteam@ipledge2nigeria learned that Oyekole, who is currently being investigated by operatives attached to Family Support Unit Ikorodu Police Command for raping a 14-year-old girl drank a poisonous substance when security operatives came to his house to arrest him at Block 10, flat 12B, Tinubu Estate, Ginti community of Ikorodu.

According to Comrade Okanlawon Toyin, Head of Rescue and case manager, “When we got to the residence of the perpetrator with security personnel to effect the arrest, we met the perpetrator’s wife who granted us access to the living room. She asked why we wanted to see her husband, I told her we were sent to come invite him for questioning.”

Okanlawon explained further that, after a while, the perpetrator came out, and took an excuse to the toilet.

Later his wife raised an alarm that he has drank some substance and vomited blood, hurriedly I and a VGN Officer rushed to the toilet to bring him out, we asked him what he drank but he refused to tell us, he came out to spit out and said Iku ya ju esin lo (Death is better than shame) we quickly gave him palm oil to drink so that it can neutralise the substance harm.

Recounting how she was raped the victim, said on  April 30th, “The perpetrator asked me to come massage his arm that was paining him.

While I was helping him massage his hands, he started fondling my breasts, I rebuffed him but he pushed me and pinned me down in the bed to have his way.

 He then forced himself and had sex with me. He also threatened me. He said I must not tell anyone and that he will take good care of me.  He said if I let anyone know he will be dealt with me.

Ipledge2nigeria.net gathered that after lots of rest and observations, the victim and the suspect in the company of his son and wife were taken to Ikorodu Area Command, where the Family support FSU officials interviewed the suspect and the victim.

 Consequently DPO CSP. A.R. Balogun directed that the victim be taken to the hospital for checkup and treatment. Also, the perpetrator was taken to General Hospital for treatment.
