Wizkid, also known as Ayodeji Balogun, a Grammy Award-winning musician from Nigeria, is the first African musician to win the BRIT Billion award for more than one billion streams in the UK.
The accolade was given to the Starboy manager following his sold-out performance on Saturday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
In the UK, Wizkid has sold millions of copies of songs, including Drake’s “One Dance,” which features him and Kyla and has received six platinum certification for selling more than 3.6 units.
“Come Closer” with Drake and “Brown Skin Girl” with Beyoncé are certified Gold, while “Energy” with Skepta and “Essence” with Tems are certified Platinum.
The UK has certified Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos,” his fourth studio album, as gold.
