According to reports, the 2023–24 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) would begin on Saturday, September 30.

A leaked official memo from the NPFL board that was signed by Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi informed all 20 clubs of the revised date.

All the teams will split a N200 million take-off grant, it was announced.

After careful consideration on the part of the league body’s chairman and its strategic partners, the prize money was also increased to N150 million.

Due to their CAF Confederation Cup commitments on the continent, Rivers United FC and Bendel Insurance FC will not play this weekend.

Meanwhile, Rivers United FC and Bendel Insurance FC will not play at the weekend due to their continental engagements in the CAF Confederation Cup.
