Nigerian governor placing his state on the world stage

Governor Udom Emmanuel has placed Akwa Ibom State on the world map through his unparalleled cross-sectoral achievements, especially in the areas of Sports, Industrialization, Tourism and Agriculture.

 

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh stated this in Uyo, this while on a live Television programme, Centre Point.

 

He said Akwa Ibom State is now on the world map as the Sports Capital of Nigeria, especially with the successful clinching of the Aiteo Cup by Akwa United FC, the beating of Indomitable Lions of Zambia by the Super Eagles in Uyo, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium and the successful hosting of several international matches in Uyo (The Nest of Champions) all within the two years plus of the Udom Emmanuel-led administration. He added that with Ibom Angels playing the finals of the female version of AITEO cup 2017, Akwa Ibom has assumed a prominent place in sports.

 

Udoh reiterated that, Akwa Ibom is also tops in industrialization by global reckoning, adjudged as the fastest growing economy, having attracted the highest volume of Foreign Direct Investment, FDI, in Nigeria, only second to Lagos, by the rating of the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS.

He said the state is host to the largest syringe factory in Africa, with an annual production capacity of 400 million syringes and the first digital electric metering and metering Box Company in Nigeria, all with huge capital investment that could only be attracted by Governor Udom Emmanuel, a man with high level of integrity and sound business track record.

 

The Information Boss, said Governor Udom Emmanuel’s outlook for the new year 2018, is to build on the gains of 2017, disclosing that more opportunities for entrepreneurship and job creation are in the offing as a Fertilizer Plant is to be opened in Abak LGA of the State as well as a Plastic factory, all geared at making Akwa Ibom a reference point in economic and business boom.

 

Furthermore, Charles Udoh emphasised that Governor Udom Emmanuel is taking proactive approach to development in the state to ensure that good quality roads and other facilities are put in place to contain the heavy vehicular traffic and huge volume of goods to be evacuated through the Super highway with the coming on stream of the Ibom Deep Seaport, the biggest seaport along the West Coast of Africa with a dual carriage and the International Jetty coming up in Ikot Abasi.

 

The Commissioner for Information said all these planned projects are dividends of democracy for the entire people of Akwa Ibom State, with no political bias and therefore called on all indigenes to bury their political differences and come out to join hands with Governor Udom Emmanuel to build a vibrant state of our own.
