The Senate says it will do everything possible to ensure that Internally Displaced Persons across the country go back to their homes.

Senate President Bukola Saraki speaking today at plenary lamented the conditions of the IDP’s in Benue state when he visited.

According to Saraki, the government must continue to play its own role to give hope to a lot of those who have found themselves in the camps by no fault of theirs.

“As we’ve said, we will visit Zamfara, Taraba and a few other states and see what effort we can do to make sure that they all go back to their homes and while they are in these camps all their basic needs are provided for.

“I think in our oversight committees should play more oversight roles in ensuring the necessary materials are made available at some of these sites.

“I have made commitments and I hope in the next few days we’ll get some donations, tables, desks for the kids and also improve the conditions of where they are being taught and even some of the other places on the camp need significant improvement,” he said.
