7 million PVC’s from 2015 elections unclaimed – INEC

Over 7 million Permanent Voter Cards PVC’s belonging to Nigerians who registered shortly before the 2015 general elections are still waiting for collection at different offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC nationwide.

INEC chairman Professor Mahmoud Yakubu while making the revelation yesterday in Lagos also said the commission was more worried that new registrants are also not making efforts to collect their cards.

According to him, the commission was doing the best it can to ensure that registrants collect their cards but unfortunately many of these cards are still not collected.

Professor Mahmoud aid the Continued Voters Registration CVR have seen over 9 million Nigerians get registered with the expectation that more would still be registered before the elections.

“For transfers, so far, we have 474, 358 requests across all the states of the federation since the commencement of the ongoing CVR on April 27, 2017.

“For those who applied for transfers, as well as those who registered newly in 2017, we have printed the cards for 2.9 million new registrants,” he said.
