ASUU to FG: You have failed in your responsibilities

The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU has lent its voice to the growing condemnation of the government’s handling of the security situation in the country.

The Union’s President Biodun Ogunyemi in a press briefing yesterday on the state of the nation tagged ‘Time to end the drift’ said government’s handling of the issue has fallen far short of protecting certain constitutional provisions on fundamental human rights.

ASUU faulted the manner the Federal Government had reacted to the Plateau killings which saw over 100 Nigerians killed in cold blood.

It accused the government of failing to uphold Section 17 (2b) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which give prominence to the sanctity of human life and dignity.
