The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) have endorsed Peter Obi, the candidate for president of the Labour Party.
The vow was made on Tuesday in Abuja by the NLC and TUC in separate speeches.
Speaking at the 10th Pascal Bafya Memorial Lecture, NLC President Mr. Ayuba Wabba stated that the organisation stands firmly behind Obi and will mobilise to achieve the Labour Party’s victory in the general elections in 2023.
He stated that labour must actively participate in politics and put forth great effort to support candidates whose platform will improve the lives of their members and Nigerians in general.
On the other hand, Mr. Quadri Olaleye, the head of the TUC, stated that “all labour unions are delighted and willing to engage with Obi as a face among the presidential candidates.”
According to Olaleye, the whole labour movement has embraced, adopted, and will support Obi in the 2023 presidential elections and make sure that workers cast a sizable number of ballots for him.
”The Labour Party is stronger, one and formidable and the party has a widespread structure, as there is a worker and a members of either TUC and NLC in every family across Nigeria.”
