In Eight Months, Ondo State has lost N164m to fire

Ondo State residents have lost property worth N164.2m to inferno that occurred between January and August.

The Southwest Zone Commander and Assistant Comptroller of Federal Fire Service, James Olatunji, made this known

when he visited Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in Akure.

He said five lives were saved, while one person died in the fire incidents.

Olatunji said houses, shops, markets, event centres, fuel tankers, trucks and others worth N3.139billion were saved.

He said he led firemen to the Sijuwade area of the state to save properties worth 50 Million.

The Fire Service boss hailed the governor for supporting the agency with logistics and other needs to boost its activities.

Akeredolu said properties worth billions of Naira would have been lost to the fire, but for the interventions of the agency.
