Sowore knocked the regimes of the former dictators and how they appear to want to hand over the country to their cronies after destroying it.

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) has criticised how his counterpart in the Labour Party, Peter Obi has been hobnobbing with Nigerian ex-military leaders.

Former military dictators including Ibrahim Babangida, Sani Abacha and Abdulsalami Abubakar all have massive corruption cases and human rights abuses hanging on their necks.

In a post on his Twitter handle on Sunday, Sowore knocked the regimes of the former dictators and how they appear to want to hand over the country to their cronies after destroying it.

The activist who posted pictures Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed took with Babangida and Abubakar separately, wrote, “They robbed Nigeria blind, they murdered its citizen, they sabotaged its aspirations for greatness and now they’re hanging precariously to life yet they want to hand the country over to their apprentices, accomplices, minions, and cronies! #WeCantContinueLikeThis #revolutionnow.”

Earlier, Obi posted pictures he and Baba-Ahmed took with Babangida on his Twitter handle, saying, “It was a pleasure and honour for me and my running mate, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, to be hosted by Nigeria’s military president, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, GCFR, at his home in Minna today.

Gen Abubakar is a true statesman with an abiding love for Nigeria who fueled our hope for a better future. -PO.”

Similarly, in July, Sowore criticised Obi for visiting Babangida (IBB), a former dictator notorious for annulling the June 12, 1993 election – which was won by the late Chief MKO Abiola.

“Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida, Aliyu Gusau, Abubakar Abdusalam and Ango Abdullahi are Mr. Peter Obi’s “God fathers” the people that ruined Nigeria are the ones fronting for him. May it never happen that we will work with these criminals! #WeCantContinueLikeThis,” Sowore had said.

Babangida, known as the “evil genius” was the head of the Nigerian military government from 1985 to1993.

History will remember him as the prime architect of the June 12, 1993 debacle.

The former dictator annulled the June 12 election on June 21, 1993, when it was clear that the winner was Abiola.
