APC seeks backing of women for Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, others

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has promised to carry women along if they support the aspiration of the party’s candidate,Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari next year.

Speaking during a sensitization programme in Festac Town, Lagos, the chairmen of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government and Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Valentine Burahimo and Ramotalai Akinlola-Hassan gave the assurance, saying that Tinubu will pay adequate attention to their welfare if they vote for him, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and all other APC candidates In next year’s general election.

Akinlola-Hassan said all the candidates chosen by the party in the election are eminently qualified to work for the interest of the electorates, particularly the female gender, who are among the vulnerable in society.

The council chairman urged the thousands of women present at the event to come out en masse on the election days with their voter’s card to vote for Tinubu as president, Sanwo-Olu as governor, Dr (Mrs) Idiat Adebule, as a senator, representing Lagos West, Prince Lanre Sanusi as member of the House Of Representative representing Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency, Ola Western as member of the Lagos State House Of Assembly representing Amuwo-Odofin Constituency 1, as well as Olawale  Rauf Sulaimon as the lawmaker representing Amuwo-Odofin Constituency 2 in the Lagos assembly.

Akinlola-Hassan said all the candidates are tested and trusted to provide progressive governance for the people. She also urged them to reach out to other women in their various communities and other eligible voters, to seek their votes for all APC candidates during the 2023 general election.

The chairman of Odiolowo LCDA and the Director General of the Adebule Campaign Organisation, Rasak Ajala said the choice of Dr Adebule as the APC flag bearer for the Lagos West senatorial candidate is a deliberate one because the leadership of the party believes in women’s inclusion in governance. He added that Dr Adebule is eminently qualified to represent the people of Lagos West district at the upper chamber of the National Assembly, based on her satisfactory and brilliant performance as deputy governor and an accomplished educationist.

Dr Adebule said the rationale behind the sensitisation visit is to express her appreciation to them for their support for APC in the past elections and also to seek their support towards the forthcoming general election. She said she has visited women in Badagry Local Government to thank them and seek their support and that she will also visit all other local governments under Lagos West Senatorial District to thank them and seek their support towards the forthcoming general elections.

Dr Adebule said she is happy and ready to provide quality representation for women and other constituents in the upper chamber. She assured the women that she will work towards improving their standard of living, particularly the widows and the aged among them, as well as traders if she is elected.

She also canvassed for votes of the women, for Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu and other candidates of APC in the election, assuring them that the APC as a political party is determined and ready to give Nigerians progressive governance.
