The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has once again refuted reports of its presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso stepping down for anyone in the forthcoming election.

The refutal was given by NNPP chieftain Folasade Aliyu who broached the subject during an appearance on Channels TV’s ‘The 2023 Verdict’ on Tuesday.

Aliyu’s remark comes on the heels of reports of a possible merger between NNPP and some of the major parties in the presidential race.

Aliyu disclosed that Kwankwaso who is prepared for the task ahead has been open about his plan for the country if elected.

According to her, the notion that the NNPP presidential flag bearer would step down for Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is nonsense.

“We are preparing for this and we are telling Nigerians one-on-one the love we have for this country.

“So, the issue of Kwankwaso stepping down or merging with Tinubu or stepping down for Atiku is absolute nonsense.

“It’s not going to happen. It’s just the strategy of some mischievous people.

“As I speak with you, he is on the road, he is talking to people”, she stated.

“We have gone to 600 plus local governments. Does that seem like somebody that is stepping down?

“We are not stepping down for anybody. NNPP is not merging with anybody.

“If you have something to offer Nigerians, let them know. If you don’t have, go home and sleep”, Aliyu added.
