2023 Elections: How Politicians Tried To Buy Votes In Kano

The election has been stalled in two polling stations, ballot box number 020 and number 016 at Unguwa Uku ward of Tarauni Kano.

This resulted from efforts of some politicians to allegedly buy votes by coercing women into voting for their various political parties.

Reports said the women were offered rice in exchange for their votes, which angered some voters.

“We are here trying to cast our votes, to exercise our franchise but some people are here offering us rice”, a voter angrily said.

There are also reports of disputes around the Chediya polling unit of Kwaciri ward in Fagge local government.

This was also a result of some party agents trying to force voters to vote for their party.

Also, reports from box 021 of Garko Zango ward of Garko local government said voting was stalled for a while.

The cause was that ballot papers have finished.

Voters said INEC officials have since gone to get some additional ballots.
