Nigerian champions Rivers United failed to reach the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup following a 2-0 aggregate defeat against Young Africans.

The Pride of Rivers, having lost the first leg of the cup tie in Nigeria, held their hosts to a goalless draw at the Benjamin Nkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Sunday night.

Rivers United fought hard but were unable to cancel the two goals scored by Congolese attacker Fiston Mayele in the first leg played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Following the exit of Stanley Eguma’s side, the Young Africans will next face Gallants FC of South Africa in the semi-final.
