2023 World Cup: Australia’s duo will not face the Super Falcons

At the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Australia’s Mary Fowler and Aivi Luik will not participate in the Matildas’ Group B match against Nigeria.

At Brisbane Stadium on Thursday, the co-hosts will provide entertainment for the Super Falcons.

On Tuesday during practice, Fowler and Luik both experienced a slight concussion.

According to a statement on the Australia Football Federation’s official website, “Matildas forward Mary Fowler and defender Aivi Luik will be unavailable for Thursday night’s match against Nigeria (27 July) after both players were ruled out after suffering mild concussions in separate incidents at training on Tuesday, 25 July 2023.”

In Australia’s 1-0 triumph over the Republic of Ireland on Thursday, Fowler played for 85 minutes.

Luik was an unused substitute in the game.
