Barcelona defeats Real Madrid in the preseason El Clasico.


At AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday, Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 3-0 in the inaugural El Clásico game before the 2023–24 season.

Following a 5-3 loss to Arsenal, Barcelona picked up a victory that helped restore its spirits thanks to goals from Ousmane Dembéle, youthful Fermin Lopez, and Ferran Torres.

Both sides’ starting lineups featured quality players, with newcomers Jude Bellingham in the Madrid lineup joining summer acquisitions Ilkay Gündogan and Oriol Romeu for Barca.

After receiving a feed from Pedri inside the area, Dembéle shot past Thibaut Courtois to put Barcelona ahead in the 15th minute.

Following Ronald Araujo’s handball, Madrid was given a penalty, but Vinicius was stopped by the crossbar.

Before halftime, the Brazilian took another attempt that came dangerously close to crossing the goal line.

Both teams made a number of adjustments in the second half, with veteran players Toni Kroos and Luka Modric being introduced by Carlo Ancelotti after an hour.

Aurelien Tchouameni attempted to equalize, but his long shot bounced off the bar and onto Ter Stegen.

In the 85th minute, substitute López secured the victory by intercepting the ball and beating Courtois from beyond the box. Later, Torres added a third goal after deft footwork inside the box to complete the scoring.

As a result, Barcelona has won all three exhibition Clasico matches performed in the United States.
