The Forum of Former Deputy Governors has aimed to join the National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress.

They made the demand in a meeting with the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, while on a solidarity visit to the party office in Abuja.

Former Abia State deputy governors, including the forum’s chairman Chris Akomas, emphasized that they have the skills and knowledge required by the party’s highest decision-making body.

According to Akomas, who is the Federal Commissioner representing Abia State at the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission Abuja, the forum is organised in a manner that they recognise that they are politicians who are focused on the unity, progress and stability of the country.

The forum thanked President Tinubu for finding some of them worthy to be given federal appointments in his administration.

Responding, Ganduje stated that the position and importance of the deputy governor, although most controversial in the country’s politics, cannot be overemphasised.

The former Kano State governor attributed most problems between governors and their deputies to sycophants within the corridors of power, while describing the situation as unfortunate.
