Following his nomination for the 2023 Ballon d’Or award, Victor Osimhen has been congratulated by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Osimhen scored 26 goals and provided 4 assists to help Napoli win the Serie A championship for the first time since 1990.

The Super Eagles striker made history by becoming the first African to win the Serie A Golden Boot in the 125-year history of Italy’s premier division.

The Ballon d’Or nominees list is 30-man strong and headlined by World Cup winner Lionel Messi, whose performances for Argentina in Qatar may give him an edge.

Other Africans on the list include Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Manchester United’s Andre Onana, and Yassine Bounou of Morocco.

The event will be held in Paris on October 30
