Black History and Lifestyle Award collaborate with African Fashion Week London

All is now set for the African Fashion Week London holding in October as two giant brand partners to change the narrative and showcase African heritage and culture.
Speaking to the media including ipledge2nigeria.net webteam in Lagos at a media briefing, Eziada Folashade Balogun founder Black History and Lifestyle Awards said the two big brands have come together to hold a huge event in London. October is the Black History Month.
“We are trying to change the narrative from black slavery and all that, we are showcasing our heritage and culture, also letting people know the history has come to stay.

According to her, “House of Sota is going to be on the runway and we are also going to be exhibiting. The collection for the show is called Igile. We have three names joined together for the collection. It is a new collection.
One of the highlights will be the celebrity walk on the runway wearing different designs.
Speaking on the collaboration, Olori Ooni Of Ife Queen Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi the founder of Africa Fashion Week London, said: “We are coming together to have a massive event. We decided to collaborate, bring our forces together, bring energy together and networking opportunities and showcase Africa to the world that we are super fabulous.
“Although we don’t have the nominees yet for the awards, we have the categories for the awards which include the best designer. We are also giving special recognition awards to those who have supported the growth of the black and African creative industry.
“We are launching our first UK trade export this year, it is called Beyond Fashion. We have realised that over the years fashion is beyond just showcasing models and designs on the runway. Do we are trying to explore the entire value chain of the fashion industry? We are starting on the 22nd of October and it is going to be about commerce and culture the Keystone speaker is going to be his Imperial Majesty the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II. Explaining further, Queen Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi said: “The event has been endorsed by the Nigerian high commissioner in the United Kingdom. We are expecting endorsement from the Ministry of Trade and Investment here in Nigeria and have partnered with the House of Representatives, and the cotton textiles and garment sector as well. We are going to be having delegates from Nigeria to attend because once we kickstart it with the trade expo on the 27th of October 2023.
“Then we have the fashion shows, one of the headliners for the fashion show is House of Sota. On the 29, which will be the final day there will be black history and Lifestyle Award in collaboration with African Fashion Week London where we are giving awards and performances, It is more of entertainment to close the event.”
