On Tuesday, the Nigeria Police Force announced that it would investigate the petition filed by the late musician Mohbad accusing event promoter Samson Balgun, commonly known as Sam Larry, and 15 other people of police incompetence.
Before his death, Mohbad reportedly petitioned the police for “threats to life, malicious damage of properties valued at the sum of Five Million Naira, assault, occasional harm, oppression, and conduct likely to cause breach of peace” against Sam Larry and 15 other people.
The petition claimed that Sam Larry and 15 other armed attackers attacked Mohbad at a video shoot on June 25, 2023. They allegedly destroyed equipment worth more than N5 million and assaulted the singer, who “narrowly escaped with injuries.”
The petition, which surfaced online shortly after the singer died, led to many accusing the police of negligence.
Reacting, the Nigeria Police Force PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the force would investigate the alleged negligence of the petition.
Sharing a copy of the petition via his X handle, he wrote, “We will look into the alleged police negligence on this case.
