Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have been living separate lives since 2016, according to her. Pinkett Smith revealed that the reason they delayed going public with their split earlier was because they were not prepared in a preview of her upcoming NBC News primetime special with Hoda Kotb.

She said they were still working out how to operate as a team and communicate with the public.
