Senator Yohana’s victory is evidence of the public’s support for the PDP, the PDP said in a statement sent via its official account on the X platform.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended Senator Amos Yohanna, its candidate, following the Appeal Court’s decision to annul the election of Sen. Elisha Abbo, the representative for Adamawa North in the National Assembly’s upper chamber.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the group claimed Yohanna had earned her victory in court.
reflects on the Monday ruling by the Abuja Court of Appeal declaring Senator Elisha Abbo’s election to be void. Amos Yohanna, a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), prevailed in the court case.
Amos Yohanna was ordered to receive a Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the validly elected representative representing the district in the National Assembly by the three-member panel at the court session on Monday, which was presided over by Justice C.E. Nwosu-Iheme.
The appellate court overturned the tribunal’s earlier decision declaring Abbo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the victor of the senate race.
In a statement issued in response to the incident and distributed via its official account on the X platform, the PDP congratulated Senator Yohana and said that his victory is proof of the public’s support for the party.
“We congratulate Senator Amos Yohana, representing Adamawa North Senatorial District on his well-deserved victory at the Appeal Court Yesterday. This is a confirmation of the People’s will and support for our great party, the @OfficialPDPNig. Once again, congratulations to him, his constituents, the people of Adamawa state and the entire @OfficialPDPNig family nationwide. Congrats”
