Canadian High Commission in Nigeria Confirms Visa Application Centres In Abuja and Lagos Remain Open

Following a disastrous fire outbreak at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja earlier this week, the High Commission formally announced that it will keep operating its visa application centers in Lagos and Abuja.

In a statement released on Thursday, November 9, 2023, Mr. Demilade Kosemani, the Communications and Public Affairs Officer at the Canadian High Commission in Abuja, made the news.

Two people were injured in the unfortunate incident that happened on Monday, and one of the victims was a local employee. Global Affairs Canada offered its condolences and promised to collaborate closely with local authorities while investigations are conducted to ascertain the cause of the incident.

Despite the suspension of certain operations at the High Commission in Abuja, the statement emphasized that the Visa application centres in both Abuja and Lagos will maintain their regular service hours. The High Commission of Canada in Nigeria is currently mourning the loss of a valued colleague, and this development reaffirms their commitment to delivering services to the public during these challenging times.
