Temilade Openiyi, a.k.a. Tems, is a Nigerian singer who has taken to social media to congratulate her colleagues Tyla and Ayra Starr on their Grammy nominations.
Tyla and Ayra Starr were both nominated for “Best African Music Performance” when the nominees were revealed on Friday night.
Intense competition characterizes this category, as nominations have been secured by industry heavyweights Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, and Olamide.
Despite the stiff competition, Tems is effusive in her praise for Ayra Starr and Tyla, acknowledging the dedication and hard work they put into their craft.
“Seeing these girlies win is actually everything because they work so hard and they believed! I’m so happy and proud rn, a huge congratulations. So well deserved. More is coming!! @ayrastarr @Tyllaaaaaaa,” Tems tweeted.
Tems herself is no stranger to Grammy recognition.
She added another feather to her cap with a Grammy nomination for co-writing Rihanna’s ‘Lift Me Up’ from the soundtrack of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
The track is nominated in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category.
