Helen Williams, a woman from Nigeria, has broken the previous record for the longest handcrafted wig.
This was revealed by the Guinness World Record on their X account on Tuesday. Stretching an amazing 351.28 meters (1,152 feet 5 inches), the wig is long.
The woman reportedly took 11 days and about N200000 (£2,031; $2,493) to make the wig, according to GWR.
With eight years of experience, Helen is a professional wigmaker who can create between fifty and three hundred wigs a week.
GWR tweeted, “Helen Williams from Lagos, Nigeria has set a new record for the longest handmade wig, stretching an amazing 351.28 meters (1,152 feet 5 inches).”
Finding the materials to make the longest wig was not an easy task. My experience as a wigmaker helped a lot,” Helen said.
The biggest challenge Helen faced was finding a space to have the wig laid out in a straight line and accurately measured, as none of the venues she visited – including several running tracks – were long enough to accommodate it.
“She eventually decided to do it beside the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway, a long road connecting the cities of Lagos and Abeokuta,” GWR disclosed on its website.
