President Bola Tinubu and Ondo State political stakeholders met, and Seinde Arogbofa, a chieftain of the Yoruba socio-political party Afenifere, expressed concerns about the decisions made.

To try to heal the rift between Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Tinubu met with prominent Ondo State politicians on Friday night.

During their six-hour meeting on Friday at the Aso Rock Villa, state lawmakers were told to abandon their ongoing campaign to remove Aiyedatiwa from office and to keep things as they are.

Arogbofa told reporters on Saturday that the President should have appointed the deputy governor as acting governor till Governor Rotimi Akeredolu returned to the state.

The Afenifere leader cautioned that there may be another crisis if there is no one in the state administration who can issue orders.

He said: “If the governor is in place, there is no need for an acting governor, but if the governor is not in place, there is a need for someone who has the authority to carry the task of governance. If there is no one with that authority, then it will be like an animal kingdom.”

Arogbofa stated that Afenifere and other state leaders are concerned about Ondo State’s peace.

He stated that following a meeting of its elders, the organization would evaluate the items on the resolution of the meeting with the President and publish a public statement.

Meanwhile, the Commandant of the Ondo state chapter of the Tantita Security Services, Chief Idowu Asonja on Saturday hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his ability to resolve the festering political crisis in the state.

Asonja claimed the state was saved by the President’s favourable intervention in what could have become the state’s Ajasin vs Omoboriowo catastrophe of 1983.
