On Wednesday, Senator Dino Melaye, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for governor of Kogi state, declared that he would not contest Usman Ododo’s election victory in front of the state election appeal tribunal.

Melaye, the election’s third-place finisher, claimed that the court was now an APC department rather than an autonomous institution.

He said, “Judiciary is no longer the last hope of the ordinary people, it is now a department under the All Progressives Congress. Why should any responsible person go to the tribunal when the APC have captured the judiciary?
