Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf personally raided a warehouse at Sharaʗa Industrial area, where more than a thousand bags of maize were hoarded.

Before the corn hit the markets, it was being repackaged into anonymous sacks.

 

The 10 kg bags of maize intended for the underprivileged were diverted, and the governor expressed his disappointment at this avaricious attitude.

 

Governor Yusuf said appropriate punishable actions would be taken against those involved in the act.

 

The Kano government had procured over 200,000 bags of food items to help the poor through the inflation and pangs of poverty further caused by the removal of the fuel subsidy.
