Nigerian-born winger Noni Madueke inspired Chelsea to a 2-1 home win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

The Blues took the lead from the run of play as Malo Gusto’s intelligent low cross into the box found Ukraine Mykhailo Mudryk for the game’s opening goal.

Ukraine star celebrated calmly in the box after giving his side the lead in the 13th minute.

However, the visitors stormed back on level terms as a delightful long ball from Jordan Ayew found Michael Olise who superbly controlled the ball and finished in aplomb from close range.

The goal came at the stroke of halftime (45+1 minutes) as both sides went into the break 1-1 apiece.

After the restart, Chelsea thought they had taken the lead but Nicolas Jackson’s brilliant finish inside the box was ruled out for an offside.

But there is no denying the man of the moment as Noni Madueke won a foul in the area and converted the penalty in aplomb to gift Chelsea a gift in the festive period.

Madueke was fouled by another Nigeria-born talent Eberechi Eze. Madueke scored his Penalty goal in the 89th minute of the game.
