Burna Boy Leads As He and Davido Bag Multiple Nominations at the 2024 NAACP Awards

The nominations for the 55th NAACP Image Awards were announced on Thursday, January 25, 2024, honoring the best in Music, Black filmmaking, writing, podcasting, and more.

 

David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, and Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly recognized as Burna Boy, have earned nominations for the upcoming 2024 National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) Awards.

 

The “African Giant” hitmaker, Burna Boy, leads the nominations with an impressive five nods, closely followed by Davido, the “Unavailable” crooner, with four nominations. Both artists will be contending in three categories: ‘Outstanding Male Artist,’ ‘Outstanding International Song,’ and ‘Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration.’

American R&B stars Victoria Monét and Usher received the most nominations in the music/recording categories, with six and five nods, respectively.

 

Rustin and The Color Purple star Colman Domingo led the nominations with three in the motion picture categories, including a nod for Entertainer of the Year. In television, Ayo Edebiri received two noms, one for her supporting role on The Bear and another for her guest appearance on Abbott Elementary.

 

Netflix and Amazon topped the overall television and film nominations, with 55 and 27 noms, respectively. In the music categories, Victoria Monét and Usher led the way with six and five nods, respectively.

Winners will be revealed during a two-hour live TV special, airing Saturday, March 16, at 8 pm ET/PT on BET and CBS.

 

The NCAAP site is open to public voting to determine the winners of its 55th edition. Voting closes Feb. 24 at 9 pm.
