Kano State government has replied to the invitation of APC National Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, saying it is social media talk.

The government added that it has no official knowledge of the invitation spearheaded by Ganduje.

Ganduje, the former Kano Governor and political rival of the incumbent government had returned to the state and invited Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, and his political father, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.

The invitation is coming a few weeks after the Supreme Court affirmed Yusuf of the NNPP as the duly elected Kano Governor.

In a chat with an online media platform in Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the spokeswoman of Governor Yusuf said they heard Ganduje’s invitation on social media and left it there.

We heard that he is begging for the Governor to join the APC, what is surprising is Ganduje as a former governor and former deputy Governor, knows better than anyone the right channel to send a message to a sitting Governor.”

“His Excellency the Governor (Abba Kabir Yusuf) does not have plans to leave his party or not leave the party.”

Sunusi Bature added that they have left the invitation of Ganduje on the social media he used to send the message, adding that changing one’s political party is not on impulse.

“Changing a political party is like changing a house, you just cannot wake up, pack your bags and say I have left my party. There are things to be done before you decide to change your house,” he explained.

The Governor’s spokesman added that though Ganduje, as the APC Chairman has the right to invite anyone to his party, there’s no official invitation from the APC to Abba Kabir Yusuf or his party to join them (APC).

Since he arrived in Kano on Wednesday night, there have been rumours that the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered Ganduje to reconcile with his former boss, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso and the current state government led by NNPP’s Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The rumour was confirmed after Ganduje at a stakeholders meeting in Kano on Thursday wooed Yusuf into joining of the APC to make Kano a one-party state.

“We have succeeded in wooing some governors to join APC. Very soon some governors will join our party. So, if we can do this at the national level, why can’t we do it at the state level?

“Our arms are wide open. We are appealing to those who would like to join our party. In particular, we are inviting the governor of Kano state to dump his party, NNPP, and join APC.

“We are calling him. We promise to create an enabling environment for the governor of Kano State so that we make a solid, a very big followership.
