Wizkid’s “Made in Lagos” re-enters the Billboard World Albums Chart

The fourth studio album of Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer, Wizkid, ‘Made in Lagos’ is still breaking records almost four gears after its release.

 

‘Made in Lagos’ has re-entered the Billboard World Albums Chart at number 14, making it the longest-charting African album of all time on the chart.

 

The album has also become the first African album in history for five consecutive years since its release in 2020, having spent a total of 134 weeks on the Billboard World Albums chart.

‘Made in Lagos’ was released on October 30, 2020, housing 14 tracks initially, before a deluxe version was added that included a remix of the hit song ‘Essence’ with Canadian pop star, Justin Bieber and Nigeria’s Tems.

 

‘Made in Lagos’ smashed and created new records including becoming the first African album to debut on the Spotify Global Album chart, debuting within the top ten, surpassing 100 million streams across five platforms nine days after its release, becoming the first African album to be certified gold in the US and UK, etc.

 

The album earned Wizkid Grammy nominations for Best Global Music Album and Best Global Music Performance with ‘Essence’ at the 65th annual Grammy Award
